Withdrawing a SPEAR Application

This functionality allows an Applicant Contact to withdraw an application that has been submitted to a Responsible Authority. The option to withdraw an application remains available to the Applicant Contact throughout the entire development assessment process.

If an application is withdrawn, SPEAR sends an email notification to the Responsible Authority and all affected referral authorities advising them of the withdrawal. Once withdrawn, the application is deemed to be complete and no further actions may be performed within the application.

The Responsible Authority can reinstate a withdrawn application by selecting 'Restore Withdrawn Application' from the 'Other Actions' menu in the Details screen. Once performed, an email will be sent to the Applicant Contact and referral authorities, notifying them that the application has been restored.

Steps

To withdraw an application from SPEAR you need to complete the following:

  1. Select ‘Withdraw SPEAR Application Permanently’ from the ‘Other Actions’ drop down list, and click on the ‘go’ button.
  2. Click on the ‘Withdraw’ button to confirm (or alternatively click the ‘cancel’ button).
  3. Attach or enter a reason for the decision to withdraw.
  4. A confirmation screen will be displayed. Click on the ‘Return’ button to go back to the Details screen.
  5. To complete this process, the decision must be authenticated using your SPEAR password.

NOTE: Although the application is no longer current, withdrawn applications remain in SPEAR and can be viewed from the ‘Completed Applications’ list.
